Shadab Rangrej (Pune)A man with a vision to empower others always. A boy in 20's wandering and gathering useful information about Blinds and continuously strive for the upliftment of their status in the society. Awarded with Dr. Hellen Keller Award by Rehabilitation Council of India and Lui Braille Award by Asian Blind Union (India), he is counselling hundreds of cases of visually Challenged at Pune in Institute for Psychological Health and Women Liberation Organization of Maharashtra. He is skilled professional of teaching "Brail Language" for sighted people.
A boy from small town of Chalisgaon in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra, he struggled lot for food with relatives within family. " A blind is born in our family making fun of us within the society" He faced severe hardship punishment, fasting, battering even though being a blood kin of those people. Outsiders tried to stop the exploitation of Shadab within the family verbally, After few months his grandma shifted him to Lonan town in Satara for his treatment of eyes but all in vain. He gets schooling in his house through learning Quran, and religious texts. Someone told his grandma about Blind School at Koregaon Park in Pune for admitting him to get education. All the facilities were available at School, along with he gets special attention of Mrs. Madhuri Dhodapkar in elementary education. He always stood 1st ranker among all the student. He also grabbed 1st position in Competitions held at Wardha for reading organized by NFBM. During his Secondary Schooling he came in contact with Alka Bawangadkar of Women Liberation Organization. He participated in events organized by her and guided him for his education. He cleared High School Xth Board Examination and took admission in Wadia College of Pune. He was taking interest in participation in Procession, Event Management,Independence and Republic Day program in the city. He was also guided by Meera Badve of NAMV (Pune) where he read Braille Newspaper and participated in Drama. After hearing Sevankur and PRAYAS work on Disability, He came in contact with Dr. Avinash Saoji and attended number of Camps through which he has raised his network of connecting people connecting NGOs organization. He traveled lot across Maharashtra for his activities and have been collecting information about such helpful distinguished Real Change Makers.. He also represented India in International Blind Festival, Dibrugarh Assam in 21-30 Sep 2012. He is now acting Executive Member of Asian Blind Union and Rehabilitation Council of India. he also writes in Braille Newspaper "Sparshadnyan" and associated with more than 75 organizations.
